139th Regatta - 26 July 2014

For this year’s 139th Aberdour Village Regatta the sunshine, calm and variable breeze, broken only by a brief squall and thunder plump, contrasted starkly from last year’s half gale. Twenty four yachts entered, from eight of the local Forth sailing clubs so maintaining a recognised habit of welcoming visiting boats for a day’s racing round Inchcolm island. The competition was determined despite frustrating periods of lack of any wind; the deserving winners, from three separate races took trophies home to three different clubs, altogether an excellent outcome enjoyed afloat and afterwards in the clubhouse ashore. Clubs represented came from Fisherrow, Granton (RFYC and FCYC), PEYC, FCC, DBSC, BSC and ABC.

Winners:     Handicap yachts (combined): Chick Medley in “Hobbes” from PEYC

White Sail, Fast: Jim Simpson in “Katie Mor” of FCC (Limekilns)

White Sail, Slow: John Henderson in “Iris” of Aberdour BC
